We are recruiting for the following roles:

Conveyancing Paralegal - Surrey & Sevenoaks

We are currently looking for a paralegal for our busy offices in Surrey.  If you have completed recent legal studies, or are in the process of, and would be interested in working as a Paralegal at Wellers Law group then please read on.

We are looking for candidates with a can-do attitude and positive approach to join a well-established and highly regarded team in Surrey.  If you are willing to work hard, be part of the team and carry out tasks from legal research, drafting to administration on files then we would be interested to hear from you.  In return we will provide a broad level of experience enabling you further towards your chosen career goals.

The vacancies we have are within the Residential Property team, therefore candidates with previous experience in this area would be advantageous.

Ideal experience but not essential:

  • previous conveyancing experience including the management of their own conveyancing files.
  • assist and manage a case load of conveyancing files from instruction through to completion and will involve searches, completion statements, SDLT returns and registrations.
  • Experience of working under pressure, to a high standard and tight deadlines.

Tasks you will be carrying out:

  • Assisting with the opening of files for purchase and lease of land or property
  • Carrying out AML and preparing the file for the solicitor dealing
  • Dealing with client queries and managing expectations
  • Liaising with clients, solicitors and third parties by telephone, email and preparing letters
  • Managing files to ensure they are kept up to date
  • Answering the phone, greeting clients and coordinating and scheduling calendars and meetings
  • Carrying out searches
  • Managing the team diaries in relation to important dates
  • Drafting Contracts
  • Dealing with enquiries on sales and purchases
  • Dealing with post exchange and completion matters
  • Drafting completion statements
  • Undertaking SDLT returns
  • Assisting the property team in day to day tasks

Private Client Solicitor

About the role

The role will be focused on our Private Client offering to a wide range of clients including High Net Worth individuals, entrepreneurs and families. The tasks you will be carrying out include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Take Private Client instructions and advise on the most appropriate course of action to meet client’s needs; taking appropriate action in executing clients’ instructions in a timely manner
  • Deal with matters appropriately, including communication with clients over the telephone, by email and in face-to-face meetings, and with other solicitors and professional organisations over the telephone, by email and correspondence
  • Prioritising your workload, maintaining accurate records of time spent on all activities, ensuring that bills are presented on time and that the agreed procedures within the Company relating to case management and file control are adhered to
  • You will help to improve the department with regular reviews of the systems, controls and processes to determine whether they are fit for purpose as the environment and service delivery requirements change
  • To achieve personal and team targets, audit and quality requirements, service level agreements (SLA), and key performance indicators (KPI)
  • Maintaining professional competence through continuous professional development, and maintaining relevant training records which satisfy the current regulations and requirements as specified by The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
  • Carry out business development activities acting as an ambassador for the firm, taking a proactive approach to building professional relationships with clients and other contacts
  • Assisting in the supervision of junior solicitors, trainee solicitors, paralegals and supporting staff as required in accordance with your experience

About you

  • PQE – 2+ years
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
  • Good “hands-on” private client experience in Wills, Trusts, Lasting Power of Attorney and Trust and Estate Administration, with an ambition to develop your skills and qualifications in the areas of tax and STEP Excellent client-facing skills and the ability to nurture existing clients and third-party relationships as well as the ability to help develop new business and assist in networking events
  • The ability to communicate complex legal matters in everyday terms
  • Keen business development and networking skills
  • Strong drafting and negotiating skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team made up of legal and non-legal professionals
  • IT skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and case management systems
