In many instances, the whole family will be affected by the breakup of a couple. Grandparents can particularly be affected if contact with a child has been denied and will naturally be concerned that their relationship with their grandchild or grandchildren children will change.
If you are a grandparent who is finding that the parent with whom the grandchild or grandchildren are living is no longer allowing you access to your grandchild or grandchildren, our professional yet approachable family solicitors will offer practical, discrete and confidential advice. They appreciate the vital contribution which Grandparents and other relatives can make to childrens' lives and will give you advice to enable you to take the best course of action, whatever the circumstances.
In a recent case the Supreme Court ruled that a young boy who had lived virtually all of his life with his grandmother should continue to live with her because the welfare of the child was considered to be of "paramount consideration" and that this decision was in the child's best interests. The child's parents had split up before he was born, the father had previously been in prison having been convicted of racially aggravated assault and the mother had a "high alcohol consumption level" and was convicted of drink-driving, she was also a victim of domestic violence.
If we feel that your case may have better success at Court we will advise you of this and will represent you in proceedings if you wish us to do so.
