Divorce

Our team of divorce solicitors are committed to supporting you through the difficult and upsetting process of divorce. We are all aware that divorce does not only affect the two parties involved but can extend to the whole family including children, step-children and grandparents.  It is therefore always our aim to help you reach a solution to your divorce matter as quickly and painlessly as possible while at the same time ensuring that you are fully aware of your rights relating to matters concerning the breakdown of your relationship.

We can assist with your legal position should you be considering any of the following:

  • Divorce
  • Separating from your spouse
  • Judicial Separation
  • Ending a Civil Partnership
  • Ending a relationship with a partner
We can provide you with a ‘tailor-made’ service offering as much or as little help as you require. We can advise you on the options available and prepare all documents on your behalf and represent you at Court or simply provide ad hoc advice when you require it.

It may be the case that you would like advice on divorcing your husband or wife now. We can help you decide which fact is most appropriate for your divorce petition to be based on. This will depend on your particular circumstances, be it your spouse’s unreasonable behaviour or adultery. Or if your relationship breakdown occurred some time ago and you have separated from your husband or wife then we can advise you on the relevant time based fact available to you.

We do appreciate however that divorce or the dissolution of a civil partnership, is a big decision for all our clients. Many clients that come to see us do not yet feel ready to take this step or have not decided that this is what they want at the present time. We can advise you on how to separate from your spouse or partner and protect your assets and draw up a deed of separation to formalise your separation. This way the matter of divorce can be dealt with at a later time when you feel ready.

If you do not wish to divorce due to your religious beliefs, but acknowledge that your relationship is over, then we can advise you in obtaining Judicial Separation which is accepted by the Christian Church.

If your relationship with your partner has ended we can help advise you of your rights. The law treats the assets of couples who formed relationships or lived together very differently to married couples or civil partners. Our experienced divorce solicitors have experience in dealing with property and asset disputes between couples who have separated and we can negotiate a settlement for you or represent you at Court should the need arise.

When ending a relationship you may feel that you need further advice in other areas. We can fully assist you in all related matters. We are experienced in dealing with child matters such as maintenance, the child support agency, where the children will live and how much access or contact you could have with your children.

You may be unsure as to your financial position on the breakup of your marriage or relationship. Our divorce solicitors will be able to advise you on the possible settlement that could be reached between you and your ex-partner or ex-spouse, negotiate on your behalf and represent you at Court.

Should the situation become acrimonious we can advise you on obtaining protection from your ex partner or spouse via an injunction, non-molestation order or occupation order.

We have both female and male solicitors within the Family Law department and would be therefore happy to accommodate a request for you to see a  particular member of our team.

Please call our Family Law solicitors for help or advice on 0208 290 7986 or 0208 464 4242.  Alternatively email your enquiry to familylaw@wellerslawgroup.com.  We offer a fixed fee, no obligation one hour interview so that we may provide you with initial advice and suggest the options for your next course of action.

If you wish to attend an appointment outside normal working hours we also hold Saturday morning and Tuesday evening clinics.
